People from all around the world come to see southern Utah, and we get to live here. Yet, I think it is easy for students who live here to get caught up in their school routines and sometimes we never make the time to get out in it. And we miss it, the opportunity that is, to experience southern Utah. I wanted to feature an organization on campus that I think gets overlooked quite often, which is probably easy to do since they are in a basement, the Outdoor Recreation Adventure Center or slightly better known as the ORAC. This part of campus rents probably almost anything you need to do whatever activity you might want to do or try in southern Utah. Hiking, camping, rock climbing, canyoneering, kayaking, mountain biking, etc. They also host activities that students can sign up for free normally or a small fee. This weekend I paid $5 and went with them to The Narrows in Zion.
My friend Dom had brought some extra lens and so I shot with my normal 18 - 55 mm and Dom's 50 mm set at a F 1.4. This was my first time shooting with a fixed lens, and it was like Christmas shooting with a new lens. I was falling in love with my camera all over again. There are a lot of photos here, but this is essentially a sample of photos I would probably give to my editor.
The ORAC is located in the basement of the SAC at the front of the school and you have probably walked by it everyday.

Some of us came a little over prepared for the morning's coolness.

I had really enjoyed shooting the canyon. The constant light change challenged me to keep adjusting my setting to get the right shoot. I was able to practice trying to capture motion a little more, and I tried to not stick to the 5'7" syndrome. We only made it to the beginning of Wall Street, so next time I will do the whole 5 miles allowed without a permit.
